Apattern should be made by drawing with a pencil andstring on a piece of wrapping-paper a circle 31 inches in CAP 145 diameter. The material for the cap should be cut care-fully around the circle and finished with a narrow tape to hold the draw-string should be placed 1^^ inchesinside the edge of the hem. A small piece of cardboard cutabout one-half inch wide should be used for measuringthe position of the tape. Bias strips three quarters of aninch wide should l)e prepared for the tape, or a com-mercial tape three eighths of an inch wide may be pur-chased. The outer edge of the tape should be basted firstand the edges joined; then the inner edges should bebasted, the edge being kept smooth. Both edges should beneatly sewn with the hemming-stitch by hand or on themachine. An elastic should be inserted in the band, care-fully fitted to the head, and the
