Hethen retired from active political life, but was drawnbefore the public again in 18^4, when he was a delegateto the National Demorratic Convention at Chicago. Hewas repeatedly elected a delegate \o the Triennial Con-ventions of the Protestant Episcopal Church. DiedFeb. 2, 1867.
