The Biligirirangana Hills, commonly called B R Hills, is a hill range situated in south-eastern Karnataka, at its border with Tamil Nadu in South India. The area is called Biligiriranganatha Swamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary or simply BRT Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a protected reserve forest. The site was declared a tiger reserve in January 2011. The gaur (Bos gaurus), also called Indian gaur is the largest species of wild Western Ghats and their outflanking hills in southern India constitute one of the most extensive extant strongholds of gaur, in particular in the western ghats
