Romney is now theprincipal owner of the Romney Lum-ber Co. and has acted as president ofthe same since 1920. In 1884 (Sept. 4th), Bro. Romneymarried Emma Frances Phillips,daughter of Wm. G. Phillips andMaria Ann Tuckfield; this union hasbeen blessed with five children, threesons, namely, Orson D., jun., Mel-bourne, and William G. (deceased),and two daughters, namely, Vilate(wife of Antoine R. Ivins), and Ger-trude (wife, now widow, of ShirleyClawson). SMITH, Elias Asahel, senior mem-ber of the High Council of the LibertyStake of Zion, was born March in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son. of Elias Smith and Lucy Brown. Howas baptized May 4, 1865, by NathanDavis, and, taking an active part inChurch affairs from his early youth,he was ordained a Deacon and laterpromoted to other positions in thelesser Priesthood. In 1882 he was or-dained an Elder by Edwin W. Davisand in 1886 a High Priest by Pres. John Taylor and called to serve as aspecial member of the High Councilof the Salt Lake Stake in order toassist in adjusting differences existingbetween Utah and Salt Lake countiesin reference to the water of UtahLake for irrigation purposes. The de-cision rendered by this council wasaccepted by all parties concerned. Sub-sequently a judgment was rendered bythe district court sitting at Provoconfirming the decision of the HighCouncil.
