Captain Fequant Returns 'On His Shield' By Lieut. Henri Farré Observateur-Bombardier au Premier Groupe d'Escadrille de Bombardment Returning from a reprisal bombardment of Saarbruck [Saarbrücken] in June, 1915, Captain Fequant stood in the cockpit to duel the Boche. A machine gun bullet struck him on the head, he crumpled up, falling half out of the machine. As he fell Sergeant Niox gripped his dead comrade’s clothing with a badly wounded hand while with the other hand he piloted the airplane back to its field in safety."
