Overhanging part of the large, solitary rock Goldstein, which is part of the ensemble Bruchhauser Steine and the rock Bornstein in the background

The photo shows the Goldstein (foreground) and the Bornstein (background), which are two of the four Bruchhauser Steine. The Bruchhauser Steine consist of four rocks up to 90 m high, which are made of porphyry rock, a very hard rock. As one of the most important geotopes in Germany, the Bruchhauser Steine have been awarded the title of "National Geotope". The Bruchhauser Steine are not only a unique natural monument, but also an impressive cultural monument. Excavation findings prove that they were already visited by people about 6,000 years ago.
