It isinteresting and remarkable in placingan Oriental rug in a room wheresome one color is dominant, to findhow magically the perhaps almosthidden shade of this same colorresponds and comes out prominentlyin the rug. For instance, in therich Mosaic of colors found in thePersian rugs, one may be consciouschiefly of the old ivory and dullred tones, but placed in a roomwhere the side walls are covered inshades of old blue, immediately thepastel blue of the rug becomes pro-nounced.
