Lasius flavus ants preparing the nest entrance for swarming. The yellow workers are fairly small and have very small eyes, the males and females (the alates) are black and winged. The males and females embark on their nuptial flights in the evening. You can see the workers defending the males and females, and even feeding them one last time.
