Monument of Abelard and Heloise, Pere La Chaise


The view taken in 1828, shows the monument of the lovers Abelard and Heloise in the cemetery of Pѐre la Chaise a 100 acre public burial ground in the vicinity of Paris. Abelard was buried in the Priory of St Marcel but moved at the request of Heloise and transferred to her Abbey of Paraclete. The bones were moved again at the Revolution to the Musee des Monumens Français. M Lenoir constructed the Gothic sepulchral chapel which was transferred to Pere La Chaise.
