For a long way around the estate, the land belongs to Mr. Bridges, and when the present alterations are finished, doubt- less more of this will be planted in ac- cordance with natural conditions. Grand views of the ocean and surround- ing country are to be had on all sides, and the place is unique in that no one else can look over it. Personally the writer was greatly surprised with the possibilities of this fine estate and will be much disappointed if it does not be- come the leading place in the country. H. K. Eichards. SAK FRANCISCO. The Market. A few days before Easter found the local florists, both wholesale and retail, in the midst of what promised to be a banner holiday rush. The shippers were just finishing up on their long-distance orders and the retailers were assembling their stock in more or less elaborate displays. The demand for cut flowers for shipping was unusually heavy, caus- ing prices to stiffen on certain items. With the exception of lilies, the stock situation leaves nothing to be desired, there being an ample supply of other plants and cut flowers for all require- ments. In flowering plants, roses head the list, and old-timers in the business here say they never saw finer specimens, on the whole, than are available this year, the later date of Easter having made it possible to have these splendidly flow- ered.
