The colonies form enormous upright and irregularly branched rhizocaulomes. From the tubes proceed hydrotheca stalks of differing length, often segmented, with a spherical swelling immediately below the hydrotheca. The latter are twice to three times as long as broad, swollen for the lower third part, somewhat narrower above, with expanded margin; in transverse section, the hydrotheca is circular below, oval nearer the aperture; the aperture itself is as a rule somewhat asymmetrical, the margin quite smooth. The basal cavity is small, bounded at the top by a quite thin diaphragm. The gonothecae proceed from the tubes of the stem; they are more or less closely set, and occur scattered about all over the colony. The gonothecae are egg-shaped to spindle-shaped with six to eight longitudinal ribs and a short, narrow trumpet-shaped neck. Material: Iceland: 64°i7,5' N., I4°44' W., depth 75 meters 5°i2 The Faroe Islands: Thorshavu (depth not stated). The genus Bonneviella includes several species from the northern Pacific, for the further de- scription of which we are indebted to Nutting (1915 p. 95). One of these species is Bonneviella.
