Fresnel lens, unknown order. 15 M octagonal concrete tower, 1962 (est. 1871), Cape Bauld Lightstation, Quirpon Island, Newfoundland


Fresnel lens of unknown order (probably 2nd order) atop a 15 meter octagonal concrete tower, built in 1962. The original lighthouse was established in 1871 on Cape Bauld at the tip of Quirpon Island at the top of the Great Northern Peninsula, overlooking Iceberg Alley. The lighthouse marked the southern limits of the Straits of Belle Isle, Newfoundland. It is a white light with a sec flash every 15 seconds.
