This gentleman, whose patronymic is Agar, assumed the additional surname andarms of RoBARTES, as representative of the old and eminent family of Robartes,Earls of Radnor. Richard Robartes was resident at Truro,in Cornwall, and enjoyed a considerablefortune in the time of Henry VIII. Hem. Anne, daughter of — Jelfery, of , and had, with five daughters, twosons, viz. John, his heir. Richard, of Truro, whose son, Josias, received the honour of knight-hood. He m. Barbara, daughterof Edward Noye, esq. of Carnan-ton, and sister of William Noye,attorney general to King CharlesI. and was s. by his Francis Robartes,knt. whodied seised of the manor ofBodmin, leaving a son,Hugh Robartes, with whomthis branch expired, whiletlie estates passed to theelder. The elder son, John Robartes, esq. who inherited a verylarge estate, wedded Philippa, daughter ofJohn Gavrigan, esq. of Gavrigan, in Corn-wall, and had an only son, Robert, hisheir.
