In the early races of the New York, the Atlantic and the Larchmont YachtClubs, the Emerald beat the Colonia, thelatter yacht being handicapped by thefact that the center-board was jammedin the trunk and that the new sails hadnot yet been fully stretched. The work done by the Colonia at theAtlantic race, June sixteenth, which shesailed without her board, and on theGoelet cup race, August seventh, sailedwith the board, shows a difference ofabout one minute per mile in favor of theboard. After being tuned up she haswon a majority of the schooner races. (To be continued.).
