In con-tradistinction to superheaters of thesmoke-box class, in which merely theheat remaining in the waste fire gases isutilized, smoke-tube superheaters alwaysreceive the direct heat from the fire, sothat the steam circulating within the ap-paratus reaches a comparatively hightemperature.
