Worcester Cathedral, occupies the site of Worcester Priory founded in 680, and is situated on a bank overlooking the River Severn. The earliest part of the building is the multi-columned Norman crypt remaining from the original monastic church begun by bishop Saint Wulfstan of Worcester in 1084.
