DANCONA Member of the Board of Education R. A. A. DAXXONA, memberof the Board of Education,physician and former Supervisor,was born in Brooklyn, New York,April 29, 1860, the son of D. A. andJulia (Davis) DAncona. He at-tended the public schools of NewYork City and when ten years ofage came to San Francisco, whichhas ever since been his home. Continuing his education in thepublic grammar and high schools ofthis city, he entered the Universityof California, where he was one ofthe editors of The Berkeleyan, thecollege quarterly magazine of thattime, and otherwise active in stu-dent afifairs. In 1880 he graduatedwith the degree of Bachelor of Arts,and in August of that year began anexperience of a year and a half inteaching school, which proved an invaluable foundation for his latereducational work.
