"It was the militia that originally defended this state, this is a great way to honor the current militia, the South Carolina National Guard while remembering where it all began," said Don Campagna, a member on the Board of Directors for the Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie Historical Trust. "It was an honor to be part of Carolina Day when we recognized our heritage and the service of our Soldiers and Airmen in the SCNG and those who paid the ultimate price," said Livingston.
