The hind wings are small, and arecrossed by a wide, rosy band, which covers a large portion of ATTACKING THE LEAVES. 255 their surface, while above and below this band the color isalmost black, the hinder margin being fringed with the body there is a line of white on each side, extending Fig. from the head to the base of the thorax, where it unites withanother line of the same color, wiiich extends down the middle,and, dividing, sends a branch to each side.
