The Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle, Britain's last steam powered river paddle steamer, taking tourists for cruises on Devon's River Dart. She was built in Dartmouth in 1924 and is coal fired. She replaced a steamer of the same name which is now a haulk on the upper reaches of the river Dart. Her engines are from the original boat. She has had a number of owners and was even chartered by the United States navy during WW2 to carry stores and persone. In 1912 she returned to Dartmouth to run passenger trips around Dartmouth and up to Totnes with the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company. She is owned bythe Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle Trust on behalf of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society.
