Lumiere have, however, given us a means of repro-ducing our pictures on other plates in the simple form of abox, holding the plate to be copied and the fresh plate togetherat one end, and having at the other an attachment for a doublespiral of magnesium ribbon, twisted and burning at a regularrate in a spring, the light reaching the plates through a specialcompensating screen of a different tint and depth to that usedfor taking the original. This apparatus I have found to workvery well, the slight blurring of the outlines proving an im-provement in a good many cases of
