The season at which the Apricot ripens, between the cherry and the peach, greatly enhances its value. Besides being a beautiful and delicious fruit, it is admirably adapted to our climate, and can be protected from the curculio in the same way as the plum. In consequence of its early blooming, the fruit is liable to be killed by the frost, yet it is worthy of a place in every collection of fruit. STANDARD VARIETIES. Black, or Purple. Small ; dull orange, marked with red ; juicy, rich and vinous ; productive and hardy ; July. IMPROVED RUSSIAN VARIETIES.
