SOUTH CHINA SEA (June 14, 2017) Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) 3rd Class (FPJ), Andrew Peters, from EOD Mobile Unit 5, Platoon 522, interacts with Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Sailors aboard the Izumo-class helicopter destroyer, JS Izumo (DDH 183), during routine operations. EODMU-5 is embarked aboard the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). The JMSDF and Navy forces routinely train together to improve interoperability and readiness to provide stability and security for the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
