Hesettled in Goffstown in 1820; was a justice of the peace; rep-resented the town in the legislature from 1830 to 1834; andwas president of the senate in 1835, serving with credit. Hewas solicitor from 1834 to 1837, and attorney general of thestate from 1835 to 1843. He was, also, circuit judge of theCourt of Common Pleas from 1843 to 1847, when he re-signed. He married Mary Kennedy, daughter of Zeba andMary (Kennedy) Gay Sept. 22, 1844. She was born about1822; and had no children. He died at Nashua Oct. 21, 1856. 144—VIII.
