I. nubilus, and were referred by Goldman (1944:463) to C. I. youngi. In some cranial details (for example, conforma- tion of the supraoccipital), the specimens agree with nubilus, to which subspecies they are herein referred. Perhaps the individuals represent intergrades between nubilus and youngi. The supposed zone of intergradation between the two subspecies in Colorado is poorly known, the only large series of speci- mens being from the western and southeast- ern parts of the state, possibly reflecting a differential abundance of wolves in Colorado early in the present century when the Bureau of Biological Surveys accumulated series of skulls for systematic study. Records of occurrence.—Specimens examined, 23, distributed as follows: YUMA COUNTY: "Republi- can Fork" [of South Platte River], 1 (USNM). PUEBLO COUNTY: 20 mi. NE Pueblo, 2 (USNM);
