Airmen from the 920th Rescue Wing, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., clear and secure the Eastern Range for the August 7 United Launch Alliance-built Delta IV Heavy lift off from nearby Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The rocket was carrying the sixth Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) satellite for and international defense forces. The WGS system provides anytime, anywhere communication for the warfighter through broadcast, multicast, and point to point connections.
