Cmdr’s Christopher Moylan, Steven Groves and Lt. Cmdr Steve Beam participate in a chalk talk to discuss the commanding of troops from ship to shore during the joint exercise Bold Alligator Aviation Mission Rehearsal Exercise at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, Virginia, May 23, 2017. BAAMREX, held at the Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic facilities, is an exercise that focuses on the task of providing live aerial support from amphibious ships while Marines are afloat, and transitioning that control ashore when Marines land. This large-scale movement requires constant coordination between Navy and Marine Corps units to avoid any friction that might hinder operations. In addition, BAAMREX is an opportunity for Marines of 2nd MAW, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, 2nd Marine Division, and Sailors from Expeditionary Strike Group 2 and other units to rehearse key events of Bold Alligator 17. Moylan is the commander of Tactical Air Control Squadron 21, Groves is the executive officer of TACRON 21 and Beam is assigned to ESG 2. ( Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Koby I. Saunders)
