Naga balustrade of the causeway to Angkor Wat, Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Naga is the Sanscrit and Pali word for a deity taking the form of a great snake, specifically the king cobra. Angkor Wat was first a Hindu later a Buddhist temple complex. It was built in the first half of 12th century by the Khmer King Suryavarman in the capital Khmer empire.
