This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product Sentinel-2 satellite in orbit. Computer artwork of the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 satellite in orbit, imaging the Earth's surface using its high-resolution multispectral instrumentation. The Sentinel-2 mission is part of the Copernicus programme, formerly Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES). It consists of two identical satellites simultaneously orbiting the earth and providing continuous imagery of all Earth's land surfaces. Sentinel-2A was launched 23rd June 2015 and Sentinel-2B is due to be launched late 2016. They will be used to image land cover for environmental and agriculture monitoring, glacier monitoring, and flood mapping and management.
