Air intake. The dike breakthrough at Elden under Arnhem. In order to be able to defend the Rhine Front more easily, the Germans decide to submerged the Betuwe. They break through the Rijndijk at a point about 500 meters east of the already destroyed railway bridge near Oosterbeek. On the night of December 3, 1944, the water flows forcibly through the large hole in the dike.
