It flowers from July to November on shoots of the present season, and should be pruned early in the Spring. Scarlet Trumpet.—Rapid grower and produces scarlet, inodorous flowers all Summer. It needs a strong, rich, deep, well drained, warm soil; manure, heat and water are essential to its perfect development. This variety grows only twenty- four inches, about half the height of the old double sort, and the flowers are nearly twice the size (often two inches in diameter), and imbricated like a camellia; deliciously fragrant.
