Residents of Coney Island, which was hit hard by Superstorm Sandy, march in the "Walk a Mile in Our Shoes" event and then hold a rally at MCU park on January 13, 2013. They took to the streets to urge Congress to pass the Sandy Aid Relief Bill, HR152, an aid package, expected to be worth about $51 billion, which funds New York and New Jersey relief and recovery efforts for damages caused by Superstorm Sandy. Signs express frustration at the slowness of Federal aid, feelings of disenfranchisement, and outrage at the sixty-seven Republicans who see the bill as just additional Federal spending and oppose it. Similar marches were also held in The Rockaways, Staten Island, and Gerritsen Beach in Brooklyn as well as in other areas of New York and New Jersey which were devastated by the storm.
