"It was built in 1899 by architect Alfred Brother and acquired in 1906 by industrial glass Chausteur. Dr. Leon Lempereur property in 1952, it later became a restaurant (1993) before being purchased by the City of Charleroi (1999). The door and the lobby placed side street barrow, separate large living room , in front of the other parts of the boulevard homes. The hall extends at right angles. Here lies the stairs to the upper floors where parts are more traditional, arranged in a row . The main facade, on the boulevard side Defontaine is animated by colored bricks and sgraffito . Gold sgraffito (stylized thistles and sun) which gave its name to this house are the work of a designer and Art Nouveau sgraffitiste deemed Dievoet Gabriel van (1875-1934). This facade is close designs Paul Hankar and its hotel Ciamberlani . Inside, there are elements inspired by the Renaissance Revival style in the living room, mixed with Art Nouveau influences, mainly in the windows of the conservatory."
