Remarks.—This new species is characterized by its very light brown coloration and the gill opening surrounded by black, a color combina- tion not yet described so far as we could find for any other species of. This eel, along with Gymnothorax thyrsoid&us^ approaches rather those eels usually placed in the genus Echidna, and it more or less bridges the gap between those two genera.
