Sir Robert Balchin a Conservative educationalist peer who advised the Conservative governemnt on educational matters. He is also the Knight Principal of the Imperial Society of Knights and a descendant of Admiral John Balchin who died in 1744 when his ship HMS Victory was sunk with all hands near the Channel Islands.
