Medieval Bridge at Beaugency, Loire, France

Multi span medieval road bridge at Beaugency on the Loire, Loire Valley France. The town of Beaugency played an important role in the 100 years war between France and England. The River Loire at this point was the front line between the two opposing sides. St Joan of Arc (Jean d'Arc) was involved also at this point during the siege of Orleans, which is just up the road from here, having first acquired horses from the Chateau du Rivau, where the National Stud was located.
