Buckwheat should be sown about the middle of Juno, broadcast, at the rate of from ono to three pocks per acre. The average yield is from tweuty-fivo to 1 hirty bushels per aero. It should be threshed as «oou as dry, on the ground or barn floor. If allowed to stand in mass it quickly gathers moisture. NEW JAPA- NESE BUCK- WHEAT-Wo ad- vise all who are growers of Buck- wheat to give this new and distinct Japanese variety a trial in preference to any other variety, whether it be for milling, for the api- ary or aviary. A «lanco at our illus- tration will show that the kernels are at least twice the size of those of any •Other variety, and of a 6hapepeculiar and distinct, being a rich dark shade of brown. Flour made from it is equal in quality if not super- ior to that of any other Buckwheat, and as the yield shows it is enorm- ously prolific. It ripens a week earlier than the Silver Hull and yields two or three times as much. SILVER HULLED—A gTeatly improved variety. It is in bloom ionger, matures its crop sooner, and yields twice as much as the ordi- nary 6ort. The husk is vory thin; the grain is rounder, of a beautiful light gray color; is claimed to save 15 to 2u per cent in flour above the common. COMMON—Tho old, well-known sort. NON-SACCHARINE SORGHUMS. These varieties bear dry woather well. When corn will wholly fail for want of rain at a certain stage, these plaius simply stop and wait for rain, and then goon and make their full yield. In weig
