Tourists viewing the memorial to Major John Howard, who led the D-Day assault on the Caen Canal (Pegasus) Bridge, Normandy.


The bust memorial of Major Howard is in centre frame. The stone marker to the left marks the spot where Howard's glider stopped (the first glider) just after midnight on 6th June 1944. The second marker (for the third glider to land) is visible in the near distance to between the last two people from the left. The final marker (for the second glider to land) is not visible but is located approx behind the head of the statue. this glider nearly went into the pond.
