Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 171 discuss convoy routes towards the forward arming and refueling point (FARP) in support of exercise Orient Shield 22 at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Aug. 25, 2022. A FARP is a temporary location used for fueling and rearming an aircraft outside of a forward operating base. Orient Shield 22 is the largest Army and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force bilateral field training exercise executed in multiple locations throughout Japan to enhance interoperability and test and refine multi-domain and cross-domain operations.
