One of the three Small Palaces built on Masada by King Herod the Great for guests, the site was built between 37 and 14 BC. as a fortress on the edge of the desert Hight, King Herod built it as a magnificent Roman styled wonder above the Dead Sea and the Rift Valley seen afar and guests came to visit him there. Jewish Zealots, Rebels or Sicarii inhabited the fort during the Great Revolt and fought against the Romans, they lost in 73 AD and died, Masada was destroyed by an earthquake hundred of years later.
