He was out for a few hours and returned with forty-five pounds of pike. His friends claim his story sounds some- what fishy, but he swears he is telling the truth and can prove it. Mrs. James Bates, of Akron, N. Y., was a visitor last week. Charles E. Guenther is in Europe for the summer. S. A. Anderson had an artistic wed- ding display window last week. The model bride with veil, etc., was the center of the picture. She carried a shower bouquet of valley and cattleyas and stood just in front of the prie-dieu, beside which rested two baskets of pink peas and valley, tied with pink ribbon, for the flower girls. On the left was a mantel decoration of pink snapdragons, Killarney roses and Farleyense ferns. A colonnade of white pillars surmounted with Easter lilies and white snap- dragons gave the entire window a dis- tinctly decorative aspect. A white wicker bell garnished with apple blos- soms hung from the ceiling. Arm bunches for the bridesmaids, of pink roses, and a bunch for the matron of honor, of Ward roses and blue ribbon, added to the effect. The shepherd's crook was also displayed. The whole window had an air of elegance about it and attracted large crowds every day. There was a big Mothers' day trade. _E. C. A. ST. LOUIS. The Market.
