Chechen or black poisonwood tree (Metopium brownei).


Chechen or black poisonwood tree (Metopium brownei). It is related to poison ivy and the sap will burn skin. It is also reportedly a medicinal plant used to cure rubella (measles) by early Mayan Indians. It is also an important lumber because it is one of the hardest woods in the jungle and also very fire resistant.
