One ofhis wives having presumed to utter some doubtsconcerning his divine mission, he assembledthe whole flock of them, and causing the here-tic to kneel down in the midst, he struck off herhead with his own hands, while the rest dancedin frantic joy round the bleeding corpse of theircompanion. At length all the horrors of famine pressedon the unfortunate people of Munster, whostill refused to capitulate. But a deserter havingpointed out a weak place in the walls, they werescaled by a party, and the rest of the army wasadmitted. The anabaptists defended themselvesin the market-place with desperate valour tillmost of them were killed.
