Detroit, Michigan - Blake Kownacki, general manager of Detroit Vineyards, plants Marquette wine grapes on formerly vacant land in the city's Morningside neighborhood. Detroit has at least 20 square miles of vacant land because the city's population has declined by two-thirds since the 1950s. Kownacki is placing grow tubes--mini-greenhouses--on the vines.
