Strawflowers (Bracteantha bracteata 'Magenta'). This plant is native to Australia and it is a member of the daisy family (Asteraceae, formerly compositae). The strawflower is in bloom from spring until autumn. What look like the flower's petals are actually bracts (modified leaves), which have a straw-like texture. The centre of the flower contains clusters of tiny individual flowers, or florets.
