The old Imperial Brands cigarette factory in Nottingham undergoing demolition

The end of an era, the Imperial Tobacco/Brands cigarette factory in Nottingham being demolished in December 2018. Production over capacity, high costs and a declining market spelt the end of this 1972 built factory with the loss of 500 high quality jobs plus numerous suppliers/contractors. Production was moved to Europe and products shipped back to the UK. Brexit came to late to save the UK's last cigarette factory, which now would have had a big impact on the decision close the facility. The site will be developed for new industries and facilities.
