Photographer taking a picture with an old Kodak camera

Photographer using the classic Kodak Retinette, a camera produced by the Eastman Kodak company as a cheaper alternative to their earlier Retina range. The Kodak company was founded in 1888 and became famous for producing affordable cameras and developing for the mass market. They became hugely popular and even as late as the 1970's dominated the photographic camera and film market with over 90 percent of all sales. In 1975 Kodak developed a digital camera but decided not to put it on sale for fear of hurting their film business. In later years as other companies successfully marketed digital cameras Kodak also moved into digital photography and still exists today producing a variety of products.
