Mountaineer Carl Fatti admiring lupine plants (Lupinus sp.) in full bloom on the slopes of the Portachuelo de Llanganuco (4,767m mountain pass), above Cebolla Pampa in the Quebrada Llanganuco (Llanganuco Valley) of Huascaran National Park, Peru. Part of the Sweet Pea Family; Fabaceae (called Tarwi locally), lupinus sp. is a shrub up to 1m tall with blue - violet flowers with a yellow centre. Leaves are grayish - green. Grows at altitude 3,700m to 4,000m.
