This was followed by a com-paratively fixed portion of colon (proximal portion of distal or left colon),14 cm., really attached to the mesocolon but closely related to the greatcurve of the stomach, owing to the fact that it and its mesocolon havebeen included in the great omentum. This is in contrast to the koala, and obviously is associated with the erect attitude of the relationship is to the great curvature of the right division of thestomach— non-sacculated and sacculated parts,—and never extends to STOMACH VENTRAL MESENTERY SE DORSUM. The colon is nearer the greater curvatureof the stomach in wallaby than in the kangaroo, and there is a closerattachment of the colon on the right than on the left in both. In otherwords, the fixation of colon and mesocolon to the great omentum beginsfrom right to left. In the above specimen the distance between the colon and the greatercurvature near the pyloric sphincter was 2 cm., on the left 7 cm., andbetween these points 3 cm., the separation of mesocolon from greatomentum was gradual; but in another the distance between the two onthe right was 35 cm. and on the left 45 cm., and so the separation ofmesocolon from great omentum was more sudden. In a kangaroo whosecaecum was 35 cm. long and right free proximal or mesenteric colon 10 cm.
