The skins are hung blubberside up on a wide board frame mounted atan angle of about sixty degrees and placed ondeck whenever it is to be used. One or twomen clad in oilskins, armed with large knivessharp as razors and slightly curved alongthe edge, stand behind the frame. By a shortsweeping stroke they slice off the blubber,which rolls away of its own weight likea thick, oily blanket. It really looks quiteappetizing, and one seeing it can better un-derstand how the Eskimos regard it as adelicacy.
